Welcome to the Lexington Public Schools Libraries

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

Elementary Library Program

Elementary Librarians provide instruction to all elementary students during 30-minute  weekly sessions. Students also have the opportunity to select and check out books during this regularly scheduled time.

Middle School Library Program

The libraries at the Clarke and Diamond Middle Schools are 21st Century learning environments that support and encourage inquiry and innovation. The library program at each school is guided by a certified & licensed school librarian who shares expertise in reading advisory and teaches information literacy skills. Students are provided with access to a variety of print and digital resources that support the curriculum and encourage independent reading. Those resources include databases, eBooks and audiobooks. Access to digital resources is available 24/7 via each library’s website. The middle school libraries also provide students with access to a variety of technology including desktop and laptop computers, Chromebooks, iPads, and NOOKs (e-readers).
