Great Reads on the Harrington Library Bookshelves: Windows and Mirrors

Intro

Children should be able to see their identity and experiences reflected in the books they read (mirrors), to see people like themselves. Equally important is that children are able to read about others different from themselves (windows) to understand, respect, and appreciate the cultures, identities, and experiences of others. Below is a sampling of some of the books available at the Harrington Library that may be either "windows" or "mirrors" depending on who is reading them. In any case, they represent people from all walks of life, and all over the world, broadening the horizons of all who read them. Enjoy!
