Each year the 4th and 5th graders at Harrington may participate in the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award project conducted by Salem State University. In order to be able to vote for their favorite title, each participating student must read 5 books from the list below by the beginning of March. For each book read, you must write a short response and post it here. If you read and create responses for all 25 books from the list by the beginning of June, you will be invited to have lunch in the library and get a book prize. How many will meet the challenge this year?
You may read a hard copy, read an ebook, listen to an audio book or a read-aloud. All formats count. If you have already read one or more books on the list, you only need to submit a reading response for that book to count. All of the books will be available in the Harrington library. Titles will also be available from public libraries across the state.
The Harrington Library has some of the MCBA titles in digital format! Here is a list of the eBooks and audiobooks we have, as well as a link to the catalog. Remember, you will need your unique username and password in order to check out the books. Please do not check out more than one digital item at a time. Books will automatically return themselves after two weeks.
