Clarke IMC Library: About our Library

SLIDESHOW

  • About Our Library

The Library at JCMS is a 21st Century learning environment that encourages inquiry and innovation. We offer a variety of print and digital resources in support of our middle school curriculum. We also provide students with access to technology (desktop and laptop computers, Chromebooks, , eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, etc.) to support their learning.  Many staff refer to the library as the "IMC". This acronym was created by the the librarian who first worked in this building.  IMC stands for Instructional Materials Center.  We call the space both IMC and Library so don't get confused, both refer to the same awesome spot in the school building. Take a few minutes and explore our website. Let us know how we can help!

Home Access to the Library Catalog:

Did you know that you can access the library catalog from home? Clarke students and staff have full access to the catalog simply by selecting the "Find Books: Library" link on the home page. Our catalog has many features to explore!

LOGIN with your Clarke computer username and password (use the small "login" link at the top right corner of the catalog home page), look under the person icon, and you'll see what books you have checked, when they're due and renew them. You can also reserve books from the Clarke Library when you are logged in. Once you are logged into the catalog, you can also check out digital e-books and audiobooks. Try it!

    Home Access to Digital Resources

Finding trustworthy information has never been easier! Students and their families can access rich and reliable sources of information by selecting the "Online Resources" tab or through our Research Guides.  Explore our digital encyclopedias, world almanac, and subject-specific databases. A few databases require usernames and passwords - a list of those passwords is available in the library or via a google document link on the online resource page. Simply login with your school goggle drive account.

     Our Borrowing Policy:
    • Books:  3 weeks + 1 renewal if there's no waiting list
    • All Students may have a total of 8 books checked out at a time
    • Limit of 2 in a series/author or subject.

    Late Fees:
We encourage students to be responsible users of the library and its resources. It is the student's responsibility to return overdue library materials as soon as possible. We do not charge late fees. Overdue notices are distributed in homeroom and emailed quarterly. If books are overdue for over one month, borrowing privileges may be suspended.

    Lost Materials:
Lost or damaged library materials must be paid for or replaced. We ask that payments be made promptly, via MCC. Students may opt to replace whatever was lost or damaged by bringing in a new copy (if the item borrowed was a hardbound book the replacement copy should also be hardbound, etc.). Please be aware that borrowing privileges will be suspended until all obligations are met, regardless of whether a new school year begins or whether students change schools.
